中央流行疫情指揮中心17日宣布，鑒於國際及國內武漢肺炎（COVID-19）疫情升溫，為維護國內防疫安全及確保國人健康，我國自5月19日零時起（當地搭機時間）至6月18日止，暫緩未持有我國有效居留證的非本國籍人士入境；緊急或人道考量等經專案許可者除外。

外交部配合指揮中心防疫政策，將暫停受理各類簽證申請。目前持有有效停留簽證、居留簽證者也將暫緩來台。外籍人士如果因奔喪、探視病危親屬等緊急重大事由急需來台，必須經指揮中心專案許可後才能向駐外館處申請特別入境許可簽證。

Amid a surge in COVID cases, Taiwan plans to tighten its entry restrictions starting Wednesday.

Until June 18, foreign nationals without Alien Resident Cards or residence visas will be barred from entering Taiwan, including for flight transits. Exceptions may be granted for emergency or humanitarian reasons. Officials say the ban will be reviewed on a rolling basis.
